What it is

A spring-fed waterfall, an hour from the driveway.

Burney Falls sits in McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park, about an hour east of Redding via Highway 299 — one of the most photographed waterfalls in Northern California.

Because it's spring-fed, it runs full year-round rather than slowing to a trickle in late summer the way snowmelt falls do. There's a day-use area, an easy loop trail down to the base, and it pairs naturally with a drive out toward the Burney and Fall River Mills area. A full guide — drive times from every Shasta County area, the trail, and my own photos and video — is on the way. If you're relocating and want to know what a Saturday up here actually looks like, get in touch and I'll walk you through it.
