Local events, trails & what's worth knowing — twice a month.

Here's what's actually happening over the next two weeks, a river walk that stays in town, and the two things worth knowing before you try to cross northwest Redding on Sunday morning. Every listing links straight to the source. — Nathan

- Sunday morning roads, if you live northwest. IRONMAN 70.3 closes a handful of roads on Sunday, August 16, starting around 6:30 AM. Rock Creek, Iron Mountain, Quartz Hill, and Oasis are the main ones. I-5 itself stays open. The City posted the closures and detours if you have to get to work, church, or the airport.
Closures and detours · City of Redding → - Burn permits are still off. CAL FIRE suspended residential burn permits across Shasta and eastern Trinity counties on June 15. Dooryard burning is still off. The county air district posts the daily burn status if you need to check before doing anything that makes smoke.

Market Minute
The median Redding home sold for $400,000 in July, and homes are averaging about 91 days on the market. That's not a race. If you're selling right now, the price and the photos are doing the work, not the calendar.
