Your next two weeks in Shasta County
Redding Rundown
Local events, trails & what's worth knowing — twice a month.
It's August in Shasta County, so the afternoons are rough and everybody is hunting for something to do that isn't sitting under the AC. Here's what's actually happening over the next two weeks, a hike that stays shaded most of the way, and a couple of things worth knowing before you make plans. Every listing links straight to the source, so you can check the times and prices yourself. — Nathan

A 220 foot waterfall at the end of the James K. Carr Trail, about 3.4 miles round trip and shaded for most of the way. That shade is the entire point in August. It's roughly 30 minutes west of town on Highway 299, and the park charges an entrance fee, so sort that out before you drive.

Market Minute
The median Redding home sold for $408,500 in June, and homes are sitting about 55 days on the market before they sell. That's a long way from writing an offer the same afternoon you toured a place. If you're selling right now, your price and your photos are doing the work, not the market.

The Rundown comes out twice a month, on the 1st and the 15th.
